Coding is a skill that is in high demand right now. If you want to learn how to code, you need to do it fast! In this blog post, we will give you some helpful tips for learning to code quickly and easily. Matter of fact both my 13 and 15-year old know how to code from these tips. Follow these tips and you will be on your way to becoming a coding expert in no time!

Tip #1: Join a Coding Bootcamp

One of the best ways to learn to code is by joining a coding Bootcamp. Coding boot camps are intense, immersive programs that teach you how to code in a short period of time. They are usually around 12 weeks long, and you will be learning coding every day during that time. This is an excellent way to learn to code quickly, as you will be focused and motivated to learn. And, once you finish the BootCamp, you will have the skills that you need to start your career in tech!

Tip #2: Find a Mentor

Another great tip for learning how to code fast is to find yourself a mentor. A mentor is someone who is already an expert in coding and can help you to learn. They can give you advice, answer your questions, and help you to troubleshoot when you get stuck. Having a mentor is an invaluable resource when learning how to code, so make sure to find one as soon as possible!

Tip #3: Use Online Resources

There are a wealth of online resources available that can help you to learn to code. These include online courses, tutorials, blog posts, and more. Make use of these resources and you will be able to learn at your own pace and in your own time. This is a great option if you want to learn to code but don’t have the time or money for a Bootcamp or mentor.

Tip #4: Join a Coding Community

When learning how to code, it is also important to join a coding community. This is a group of people who are also learning to code or who are already experts in coding. They can offer support, advice, and friendship as you learn. And, they can also be a great resource for finding mentors, online resources, and more. So make sure to find a coding community that you can join!

Understand your learning language and what works best for you

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to learning how to code. Some people enjoy watching YouTube videos and screencasts. Some people like to immerse themselves in a book. Others learn fastest by doing so. Reading from beginning to end of the documentation might help some individuals learn better. some people learn best with the help of a mentor. some individuals may learn coding bootcamps

Some learning strategies will be extremely beneficial for you, while others may be significantly less useful. It’s essential to understand how you prefer to learn before beginning to code and designing your education path around this approach.

If you’re really listening to yourself, you’ll do it without thinking. If, on the other hand, you believe there’s a right way to learn or feel compelled to learn in a specific manner, you might be tempted by methods that appear ‘correct’ or impressive but aren’t effective for you.

When it comes to programming languages, be especially wary of this when you’re given information by someone who learned to code less than a few years ago. These individuals have the purest of intentions, but their techniques for learning how to code may not take advantage of some of the outstanding resources that have become available during the last several years.

For example, many developers discovered Ruby when reading a book affectionately known as the “Pickaxe Book,” which was published in 2006 and is 864 pages long. The “Pickaxe Book” is considered legendary among Ruby programmers because it comprehensively covers every feature of the language. However, it may be tough for someone who is learning code for the first time to start now!

Work on a project that excites you

When you’re learning to code, it’s easy to sink hours and hours into tutorials that don’t mean very much to you. You might be building toy programs like to-do lists or silly websites for something that doesn’t exist. While this is a good way to learn, it’s not very motivating. Alongside all the tutorials that will have you build something just to learn, it’s incredibly important to build something that matters to you.

Make a website for yourself or one for someone you care about if you’re learning how to create websites. Make a web app that solves a problem in your own life, no matter how big or little it is. If you’re learning to make games, start with something you’d want to play yourself.

A story: I used to assist a class of school teachers who were learning how to code so they could pass on the knowledge to their pupils. Without exception, the instructors who learned the most in that session were those who created something for themselves. The teacher with the best performance in the course was dedicated to building a basic financial tracking app for her family. Teachers who didn’t create anything for themselves and just did the in-class activities learned the least. I’ve noticed that individuals are generally the most motivated to learn and retain knowledge when we see it as immediately applicable to us.

Comparing the following situations, two people are learning how to utilize a website to accept credit card payments. Who do you believe will retain this information? The individual who is studying because they “may be useful someday,” or the person who needs to figure out how to take donations via their website for an independent documentary they are attempting to create?

The single most important thing that will help you learn faster and retain what you’ve learned is to have a personal project that you care about and can apply your knowledge to.

Consistency is key to learning to code

It’s far better to practice for 20 minutes each day than it is to do three hours once a month. Consistency will assist you in solidifying what you’ve learned and retaining information. If the gaps between practice sessions are too large, you’ll forget things and lose the ability to accomplish tasks that you’d previously committed to muscle memory.

Track your progress and set small goals along the way

Learning to code can be a hard road, and it’s easy to lose sight of how far you’ve come. Even after you’ve mastered the fundamentals of programming, which is an amazing achievement in itself, it can still feel like there’s so much more you don’t understand. That’s why keeping track of your development and reflecting on what you’ve learned is critical.

Every day, or every week, write a paragraph about anything you’ve learned that you didn’t know the day before. After some time, keeping track of your development with these little journal entries will help you appreciate how far you’ve come.

Final Thoughts

The most frustrating aspect of technology, perhaps, is that you will never know it all. In fact, the more you learn, the more you realize that you don’t know! There are thousands of programming languages to choose from, as well as web frameworks and tools, but trying to master them all would be a waste of time. Don’t get lost in rabbit holes. Make a to-do list of everything you need to learn in order to reach your objective and stick to it until you’ve completed it. As you come across things that pique your interest, make a note of them in a secure location and return to them when the time is right.

So much of being a great coder is about not getting sidetracked. You can start learning these skills right now, whether you’re just beginning your coding career or have years of experience.

There are a thousand alternative methods to learning to code. Some people pick it up fast, while others take longer. One person may grasp ideas that you regard as difficult; another might have difficulty with something you consider simple. Your path may not be straightforward. You could stop studying to code for a while, get sidetracked, and/or have doubts. You might first learn how to code then forget it, then relearn it all over again.

The last thing I’d like to emphasize is that there’s no right way to learn coding and no one-size-fits-all method. There’s no blueprint that works for everyone when it comes to learning how to code. Rather than avoiding the unknown, embrace it and go for it anyway. It’s well worth the effort.

These are just some of the tips that we have for learning how to code fast. Follow these tips and you will be well on your way to becoming a coding expert in no time! Do you have any other tips for learning to code quickly? Share them with us in the comments below!
