Need for Speed Underground 2 developer of the new Need For Speed movie, Ghost Games, has vowed that it will offer something fresh to fans who have been following the franchise since Underground 2 was released in 2004. Given what we’ve seen so far and how slickly this new game seems to be taking off, I’m leaning toward an official entry in the popular racing simulator franchise Need For Speed Underground 2 refined the fast-paced gameplay of Need For Speed Underground, adding new car customization possibilities and methods for selecting races as players ripped through the busy streets of Bayview’s fictitious city in search of being named the finest underground racer.

The Need For Speed series has not been as lucky in recent years, with new games like 2019’s Need For Speed Heat receiving poor reviews and being removed from online databases owing to dwindling player interest last year. However, a remodel of 2010’s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit received a warmer reception, and recent reports have claimed that Criterion Games and Pokémon Unite developer TiMi Studio Group are working on a new Need For Speed games. Some rumors indicated a modern remastering of Need for Speed Underground, but EA debunked the claims promptly.

Yet if rebuilt with Unreal Engine 4, a modified version of Need For Speed Underground 2 may actually look and play better than the original. After seeing his work on YouTube under the username 2Unreal4Underground, modder Ivan Novozhilov recently imagined how a retrofitted version of Need For Speed Underground 2 might appear and operate. To no one’s surprise, this quick demo includes striking visuals as a fast blue racecar speed through dark city streets with more dynamic reflections and illumination. According to DualShockers, this still-in-development fan reworking improves on the original game in significant ways, including stuttering radio noise and missing textures, in addition to new features like named The Need For Speed Underground 2 remake from Novozhilov is still in development, and EA has yet to address the project.

Modders from all across the internet have created impressive remakes and remaster of vintage titles such as Need For Speed Underground 2 using Unreal Engine 4 and the newest Unreal Engine 5. These include visually stunning recreations of classics like The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, as well as more contemporary tributes to The Elder Scrolls V: AUnreal Engine was also used to create fantastic games based on famous characters, such as Superman and Spider-Man, as well as new IPs.

The development of an entirely new racing game, which promises to be “the most immersive and powerful” title in the franchise’s history, is said to begin this year. The game will utilize Unreal Engine 4 and take full advantage of all its features — including Physically Based Shading (PBS), and High-Resolution Global Illumination.
