What is 3D Printing?
3D printing, or additive manufacturing, is the process of creating solid 3D objects from a digital file.
A 3D printed object is created through additive processes. In an additive process, an object is created by applying successive layers of material until the object is created. Each of these layers can be seen as a cross-section, cut into thin slices of the object.
3D printing is the opposite of subtractive manufacturing, where a piece of metal or plastic is cut/trimmed, for example, with a milling machine. 3D printing allows you to create complex shapes with less material than traditional production methods.
