The EarPods with Remote and Mic are, without a doubt, superior than the freebie headphones that usually come with mobile phones as a throw-in. They’re considerably better fitting and sounding than Apple’s previous line of basic earbuds, and they also function well as a headset with one-touch access to Siri. However, they won’t fit every ear equally comfortably and for some individuals (like me), wearing them on the go might be difficult.
Sure, Apple could have included a silicone cover that would make them fit more securely. But it didn’t, so I expect third-party suppliers to provide specialized covers to meet the gap.
Of course, many people will be satisfied with them the way they are and will have nothing but good things to say about them, so I’ll be accused of being crazy for not giving them 4 stars. Others, on the other hand, may believe that they’re only okay at $29 and won’t think anything higher than 3 stars is reasonable.
Because the shape of your ears will have such a big impact on how you feel about the EarPods, it’s difficult to establish an exact score for them. The good news is that because so many people are upgrading their iPhones and iPods, there will be plenty of these around for you to try before purchasing. And I strongly advise you to do so.
