The iPhone 14 comes with either a 6.1″ or 6.7″ screen on the Plus variant, while the standard has a larger 6.5″ display. The new OLED XDR screen on both devices is protected by a Ceramic Shield glass that prevents scratches and falls, and it features Dolby Vision support.

The displays on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are 6.1″ and 6.7″ respectively, and they’re brighter than previous models with up to 1,600 nits (equivalent to the Pro Display XDR) of brightness and 2,000 nits of maximum brightness—the brightest screen ever shipped in a smartphone, according to Apple.

The iPhone 14 Pro models include an always-on display that can dim the screen to 0. It also has a 1Hz refresh rate and a translucent display with deep blacks, making it ideal for reading on or watching movies. The screen has an amazing 460 ppi (pixels per inch), which means you’ll notice a difference.

New Beautiful Design

The new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus comes in five colors: Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Purple, and Product (RED). Although the phone’s exterior look is similar to prior models, Apple says there is a new internal design that prevents overheating and improves performance.

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max have a completely redesigned external appearance around the notch known as the “Dynamic Island.” The proximity sensor, FaceID sensor, camera, and other components are all crammed into this pill-shaped zone surrounding the lens, but it now also includes a screen area that can adapt to hide sensors and show notifications, alerts, and more.

This feature, which was announced in June, will be part of iOS 16. With iOS 16 and subsequent versions, Apple’s own apps will support this functionality; however, third-party developers will be able to create experiences for Dynamic Island later this year.

The ability to achieve desired results usually refers to productivity in terms of output per unit of input.

The A15 Bionic chip in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus includes a 5-core CPU that is 18% faster for gaming performance than the iPhone 13, as well as a 6-core CPU with two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores to deliver more performance and improve battery life. A new image signal processor designed with the new camera system in mind improves picture processing.

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature the all-new A16 Bionic chip that is 4 nanometers in size, making it more powerful and efficient than any other mobile phone chip on the market. This new technology makes the iPhone 14 Pros the world’s fastest smartphone, according to Apple.

The new chip is made up of a 6-core CPU that operates 40% faster than the iPhone’s competition and is able to complete 17 trillion operations per second; a 5-core CPU with 50% more memory bandwidth designed for graphics-intensive tasks and games; and a new Display Engine responsible for the Dynamic Island display, always-on feature, and more.

The length of time a battery can power a device before it needs to be recharged.

According to Apple, all of the iPhone 14 versions provide “all day battery life,” but what does this imply in terms of statistics? The iPhone 14 can play video for 20 hours or audio for 80 hours, while the iPhone 14 Plus can do so for 26 hours.

The iPhone 14 Pro can play 23 hours of video or 75 hours of audio on a single charge, whereas the iPhone 14 Pro Max gets 29 hours of video playback and 95 hours of audio playback.

The iPhone 14 lineup is capable of being charged at 15W via MagSafe and 7.5W with Qi chargers; however, they are fast-charging and capable of 50% charge in only 30 minutes when using a 20W or higher charger via a cable.

Camera

As predicted, the iPhone 14 models all got camera updates, with the iPhone 14 Pro models seeing the biggest changes.

The iPhone 14’s camera system now has a 12-megapixel (mp) main camera with a larger sensor and bigger pixels, a faster 1.5 aperture, and sensor-shift optical image stabilization. The faster aperture on these models allows for quicker motion freezing. In difficult light situations, Apple enhanced low-light capture on the iPhone 14 relative to its predecessors by 49 percent.

The new iPhone 14 Pro now offers a 48mp camera with a 65% larger quad-pixel sensor than the iPhone 13 Pro, as well as 100% Focus Pixels . A new 24mm focal length has also been included to shoot beautiful landscapes and scenery photos. Plus, the sensor is able to adapt according to what type of picture you’re trying to take!

All cameras, including the front camera, have seen a significant improvement in low-light performance when compared to iPhone 13 Pro. Apple ProRAW has been updated to allow users to shoot at 48mp resolution using ProRAW.

The front camera for all models now features a 12mp TrueDepth camera with 38% better low-light capture than before as well as autofocus. Deep Fusion, Apple’s machine learning photo pipeline is applied further up in the process so that low-light performance and image quality are improved. Additionally, there is a new Photonic Engine being utilized during photo capture that allows for 2.5x improvement in pictures taken in low light and more accurate color correction. Finally, the TrueTone flash on all models has been made brighter.

Connectivity

The iPhone 14 models continue to improve connectivity by 5G, which is available in more than 200 countries. In addition, the SIM tray will be dropped from all U.S.-based models in favor of eSIM.

ESIMs allow carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon to automatically transfer or add new plans to phones without the need for a physical SIM card. They also enable the iPhone 14 to store multiple eSIMs in a single phone for easy swapping between plans or having multiple numbers.

Select one of your preferred security players.

The iPhone 14 series is all about safety, with each model coming equipped with car crash detection and a new feature called Emergency SOS via Satellite.

When your iPhone is in driving mode and the onboard sensors detect you’ve been in a severe vehicle accident, including rear impact, front impact, side impact, and rollover circumstances, Crash Detection is automatically activated.

When your iPhone 14 detects that you’ve been subjected to an emergency situation, it will display a prompt on the screen asking you whether you’re okay or not; if you don’t respond within a certain time period, the iPhone will automatically contact emergency services on your behalf.

Apple’s new iPhone 14 comes with a free two-year subscription to Emergency SOS via Satellite. This service allows users to contact emergency services or send text messages via satellite when there is no cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity available.

The iPhone 14’s antennas can now connect to GPS communication satellites through a new guided app that guides you where to point your iPhone in the sky for reception, all without the need of a large GPS antenna. You may also utilize this to share your location using the Find My app via Satellite in non-emergency situations. This service will be free for two years and available starting November 2017 in the United States and Canada.
